Job Description / Key ResponsibilitiesThe Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s overall accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Philippine laws and regulations, and effective financial controls suited for construction and real estate development operations.
Core Responsibilities:1. Financial Management & ReportingOversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with PFRS.Ensure timely and accurate closing of books.Consolidate financial reports for multiple projects and related entities.Prepare management reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis.2. Construction & Project AccountingMonitor project costs, budgets, and cost-to-complete reports.Review job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and revenue recognition (percentage-of-completion).Coordinate with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors regarding project billings, progress billings, and retention.Ensure proper recording of project-related expenses, advances, and mobilization costs.3. Compliance & TaxationEnsure compliance with BIR, SEC, DTI, LGUs, and other regulatory bodies.Oversee preparation and filing of tax returns (VAT, EWT, FWT, Income Tax, Withholding on Payroll).Handle BIR audits, tax assessments, and compliance reviews.Ensure accurate payroll tax computation and statutory remittances (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG).4. Internal Controls & AuditEstablish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.Coordinate with external auditors and provide audit schedules.Conduct periodic internal reviews to ensure compliance and minimize financial risks.5. Cash Flow & Treasury ManagementMonitor cash flow, bank balances, and loan accounts.Review disbursement requests, check vouchers, and fund releases.Coordinate with banks regarding credit facilities, loans, and guarantees.6. Team Leadership & CoordinationSupervise accounting staff (general accounting, payables, receivables, payroll).Provide coaching, performance evaluation, and training.Work closely with Procurement, HR, and Operations to ensure financial alignment.
QualificationsEducationBachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.ExperienceAt least 8–10 years of relevant accounting experience, with 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.Strong background in construction or real estate development accounting is required.Proven experience in project-based accounting and job costing.Skills & CompetenciesIn-depth knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).Strong understanding of BIR taxation and compliance.Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or industry-specific systems).Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Personal AttributesHigh level of integrity and attention to detail.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Strong organizational and decision-making skills.Hands-on and proactive approach suited for construction operations.Preferred / Added AdvantageExperience handling multiple entities under one group.Experience in bank loan processing, bonding, and project financing.Familiarity with PEZA or government construction projects (if applicable).
